Hello
My name is Melissa Calcara Mendez (Mrs. Mendez). I graduated in 2018 with a degree in Elementary Education with a focus in math and Business Administration. I taught for 5 years and was teacher of the year finalist in 2020-2021. I have experience in grades K-4th, with the last 4 years of teaching being in 4th grade. I have experience tutoring 2nd through 12th grade. My focus is math and science.
I am one of the founders of Next Level Up. It is my passion to empower students and fill in the holes they are missing in their education.
My Focus
Grades K-12: Math
We will focus on building foundational math skills that your child will need throughout their life/education. We work on algebraic thinking, problem solving, numbers and operations, geometry, measurement, and place value. My goal is for your child to build confidence, independence, and a love for math.

Grades 2-8: Reading Comprehension
We will focus on fluency, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. We will read texts that get your child interested and then focus on topics, such as main idea, theme, cause and effect, inferences, and plot. My goal is to help your child find a love for reading through books that they are interested in.
